As a part of giving back to society, we strive to leverage our core competencies towards sustainable development of local communities. Our Corporate social responsibility programmes are designed to address a wide range of issues such as illiteracy, unemployment, inaccessibility to healthcare and sanitation. For achieving this goal, CGCL has launched multiple programmes covering areas of education, livelihood development, healthcare and sanitation.
a) Scholarship Program
The program focuses on identifying and providing financial assistance to meritorious and deserving students from economically challenged background. The program enables students to pursue their aspirations and realise their potential. Till now more than 450 children have been benefited under this program.
b) School Transformation Program:
The School Transformation program is CGCL's flagship program. the program aims to create quality education facilities for children from rural & marginalized communities. We catalyze education opportunities through infrastructure, and provision of regular schooling services, Computer literacy initiatives and other learning materials. These interventions will eventually lead to increased and holistic access to primary and secondary quality education
This is an end to end management model. Wherein the CSR team is responsible for need assessment to direct program execution. CGCL is partnering with Zilla parishad education department and trust- run schools to implement this program.
Our livelihood initiatives endeavour towards reducing economic disparities faced by the urban poor. Driving income-generating programmes for the youth dwelling in slums and persons living with disabilities, is an effort towards creating equal opportunities for their development.
a) Vocational Training Programs For Persons with Disabilities
To promote inclusion of persons with disabilities in the mainstream, Capri Global Livelihood Program was launched. The two-year support program: is designed to enable differently abled persons acquire skills in tailoring; gain livelihood support in the form of stipends and get employment ready. Furthermore, counselling and their psycho-social development. The program aims to make them self-reliant, hence material support and guidance is continued till the individuals can earn. The trainees have produced over 3000 units of travel bags, purses, clothes and folders.
b) Skill-Development for unemployed youth:
The program implemented in partnership with technical institutes aims to provide skill-based training to under-privileged youth and create a cadre of skilled electricians, machinists, mechanics, draughtsmen and other tradesmen. 97% of the trainees get absorbed into the workforce, and have been hired by noteworthy companies.
Our other programmes include training of youth in patient- care management wherein they will be placed with government and private hospitals.
The programme addresses the issue of access to basic rights such as healthcare, water and sanitation in partnership with various implementing organizations. As a pilot project, we installed portable toilets in government schools of Dahanu. This year, we are providing sanitation facilities in 10 schools, Bhiwandi, Maharashtra.
