We at CGCL are on a mission of creating a social impact through our CSR activities and we firmly believe that the mandate of our company does not end with multiplying returns for our shareholders, but we must fulfil our larger responsibility towards the society.
The four pillars that drive our CSR initiatives are Education - Health - Training - Employment. There is tremendous hidden potential in the under-privileged that needs to be unlocked for not only their own betterment but for the ultimate betterment of the nation.
At CGCL, our mission is to empower these individuals/institutions so that they can become our partner in contributing to nation building.
When Prime Minister gave a clarion call to the business community to engage their CSR initiatives in providing better sanitation facilities to girl students in the country, we delved deeper into the vision. Our team went on a quest to identify the best place where proper sanitation facilities can bring about a drastic change. After systematic efforts and research on sanitation facilities in tribal schools in Maharashtra, we installed toilets in schools in those areas. An assessment of the same revealed that girl students who had to defecate in the open because of poor sanitation facilities were now looking forward to coming to school bringing down absenteeism significantly. The immediate outcome of the facility we extended strengthened our mission of creating an impact through our CSR activities. This example can well define our mission when it comes to returning to the society.
We also bring in values for all our stakeholders through our CSR programmes. We encourage participation of our employees in volunteering activities for our CSR thereby instilling a feeling in them about our sensitivity towards the society. We firmly believe that by sharing our resources we are becoming a significant member of the New Age India.
Our endeavours in the CSR sector also emphasise on whether we are impacting the lives of people who might have given up on hope because of their physical conditions. Through our CSR, we are on a mission to bring about a meaningful change in their lives. For instance, a wheel-chair bound physically handicapped person can be trained in vocations/skills that do not require movement like stitching/teaching etc. Through our CSR programmes we train these specially-abled people by identifying their strengths that can instil a sense of pride and satisfaction in them.
Our CSR team passionately looks out for opportunities to realise our mission of becoming an integral part in addressing social causes. We do not let a talent/potential die just because one does not have financial resources. By supporting a talented individual complete his/her academic qualification, we not only bring about a change in the life of an individual but also his entire family and the surroundings. The person not only gets a decent job after excelling in academics, but also becomes an inspiration for other students in the locality.
At CGCL, we are committed to the social causes and conduct brainstorming sessions in exploring new avenues on giving it back to the society. We always keep in mind what Philip Kotler once said: “A good company offers excellent products and services. A great company also offers excellent products and services but also strives to make the world a better place.”
